Chasing My Dreams

November is a special month in our house. Yes, we love turkey and leaf raking and Christmas shopping at 4 a.m. just as much as the next American. But by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, I've already put in a solid 3 weeks of competition.

You see, November is National Novel Writing Month. (Read: coffee guzzling, Thesaurus abusing, lack-of-sleep fun.)

In case you've never heard of such a crazy concept, you should click over to NaNoWriMo to check out the specifics.

The long and the short of it is this: I have one month (four weeks, thirty days, seven-hundred-and-twenty hours, forty three thousand and two hundred minutes) to write

50,ooo words.

Holy carpel tunnel, Batman.

Don't worry, readers. I'll still be posting here on Abby Gabs frequently. As you can see, I gave the blog a Nano-themed makeover, to keep me creatively inspired throughout the month. I'll also be keeping tabs on my progress with the Word Count Widget in the left tool bar, so you can see how far I've come as November progresses. And I might even post a teaser or two, for those who might be interested in seeing just what's fueling my author's fire.

My goals with this year's NaNo competition are simple. In fact, there's really only one. Finish. (As in complete the 50,000 words by November 30, even if I write the bulk of them in a coffee-induced-frenzy at 11:40 p.m. on November 29.)

So stay tuned, readers. It's gonna be a helluva ride. And hopefully, by the time we all jump off the merry-go-round at the end of the month, I'll have a brand new shiny novel.

It's go time.
